New Location for Teacher Workshops in 2010
For eight years the Interactive Classrooms were located on the floor of the FFA Agricultural Career Show. This year, they will have their own home in rooms 125, 126 and 127 of the Indiana Convention Center, just down the hallway from the student leadership workshops.
Interactive Classroom Descriptions
- Room 125: The Agriscience Institute, sponsored by DuPont, will focus on food safety, alternative energies, and biofuels. Topics change hourly, and participants will have the opportunity to conduct lab experiments, watch teachers model effective inquiry-based instruction, and see how to put the "experience" back into experiential learning. Mark your schedule to see and participate in the Agriscience Institute convention classroom.
- Room 126: The Pfizer Animal Health classroom will showcase industry training events, careers in animal industries and instructional lessons written by classroom teachers utilizing Pfizer's training materials. See teacher-partners demonstrate how they deliver industry-validated content utilizing a variety of teaching strategies to increase student competencies in swine production, bovine and swine infectious diseases, and immunology. Experience immunology made easy through "Body Wars, Parts 1-3." Take home resources, lessons and content material you can use in your classroom immediately.
- Room 127: The Teacher Professional Development Classroom will include a variety of subjects including: practical strategies for success with diverse student populations; personal financial management; how to effectively utilize multimedia instructional materials; organic foods and niche markets; canine care and training programs that lead to certification; service learning; LifeKnowledge; and integrating games into the agricultural education classroom.
Teachers' World
Teachers' World will be right across the hallway from the teacher workshops, in the career show. In Teachers' World, you can visit sponsors and exhibitors specifically interested in talking to teachers.
